The public awareness activities under this programme shall in the first place be organised as a national campaign, in combination with and to be followed by more awareness activities at a local level, initially focused at the indicated pilot cities. The National campaign will focus on all layers of the population. The local campaigns will focus at the neighborhood dwellers, their representatives in the local councils and the private sector. To achieve a maximum effect, the campaigns will be organised over a limited period of time. Following such campaigns, it is envisaged that community development activities will follow, resulting in several community or private sector initiatives targeted at actively improving the urban environment and the cultural heritage.
It will be the population of Yemen that can exercise its power through democratic channels that will need to support and maybe even demand the appropriate use of the Urban Cultural Heritage.
